You’re expecting—congratulations! There’s nothing more exciting than preparing for the arrival of a new baby. Besides choosing a name and nursery colors, you also need to be prepared for the big day by becoming an active participant in your delivery experience. Memorial Hospital offers you a wide range of services, classes and accommodations to customize your delivery to suit your needs.

Memorial Hospital has an experienced staff of obstetricians, family practitioners, certified nurse midwives and pediatricians who work with our labor and delivery nurses to make sure the reassuring care you need is easily accessible. We respect your values and preferences in everything from pain management to birth method, and we make every effort to keep you comfortable and in charge of your experience.

With the opening of our new obstetrics wing, you can enjoy birthing rooms equipped with Jacuzzis, spa showers and even a comfortable bed for your partner. Your comfort is the prime focus, but you are still surrounded with the latest medical technology to ensure a safe delivery for you and your baby.

The Miracle Life Center features

  • Four labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms for routine deliveries
  • Six private postpartum rooms
  • Three swing rooms that can be used as birthing (LDR) rooms or postpartum rooms
  • Three private triage rooms for outpatient exams
  • A 20-crib nursery
  • An on-unit c-section suite
  • Five Jacuzzi tubs
Other special features and programs that are available for you and your family include:
  • Comfortable and soothing labor suites with soft mood lighting
  • Fathers are allowed and, in fact, encouraged to stay 24 hours a day in Mom's private room which even includes sleeping accomodations for him
  • A celebration meal for Mom and a guest
  • A dedicated, experienced staff - many of whom have been caring for multiple generations of families - and all of whom are crosstrained to care for you and your baby at every stage of your stay
  • A breastfeeding consultant on staff
  • HUGS security system
  • A kitchenette and vending/coffee area for after hour snacks for the entire family
  • The Little Lambs mural - an opportunity to honor your baby's birth with the purchase of a nameplate for permanent display
  • Hearing tests for all babies prior to discharge
As you prepare for the challenges of parenthood, Memorial Hospital also offers pre- and post-natal education. Our childbirth classes are taught by experienced obstetrical nurses and are designed to enhance your knowledge of labor, delivery and recovery. Relaxation techniques, Lamaze breathing, exercise, medications and pain relief options are all covered. The series also touches on basic infant care and self-care during the postpartum period. You can also take advantage of a special class on breastfeeding.

Registration:
Make arrangements for pre-registration with Memorial's admissions department after your 30th week so you can focus on yourself when you arrive to deliver your baby.
